Any good start to a Collaborative (Self) Governance model should be judged from the vantage point of Indigenous peoples’ aspirations and their role in the design of the internal structure of a model of governance. Being that Indigenous peoples are the original inhabitants of all geographic regions, our focus has been on better understanding and participating in the design of a collaborative model that is Indigenous-led, self-determined, and focuses on community wellbeing and renewed nation-to-nation relationships.
